Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 2026
Summary (Plain English)
We believe in being upfront about privacy. Here's the short version: We don't collect your personal data. All voltage drop calculations happen entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. When you enter values into the calculator and click "Calculate," the math is performed on your device—nothing is sent to our servers. We have no database of user calculations because we never receive them in the first place.
You don't need to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal information to use our calculator. When you close your browser tab, your session ends completely. The only exceptions to our minimal data approach are described below: anonymous analytics, standard server logs, and voluntary email contact.
| Data Category | Collected? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Calculator Inputs | No | All calculations run client-side in your browser |
| Personal Information | No | No accounts, no registration, no email collection |
| Cookies | Analytics | Google Analytics sets cookies for anonymous usage tracking |
| IP Addresses | Standard | Web server logs and analytics may collect IP addresses |
| Usage Analytics | Anonymous | Google Analytics 4 tracks page views and usage patterns anonymously |
Information We Don't Collect
To be absolutely clear about what we do not collect or store:
- No calculation data – Your voltage, current, wire size, length, and all other calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
- No account information – We don't require registration, usernames, passwords, or email verification. There are no user accounts on this website.
- No personal health or financial data – We don't collect any sensitive personal information of any kind.
- No calculation history – We don't track or store your previous calculations. When you refresh the page, the calculator resets to default values.
- No device identifiers – We don't collect unique device identifiers, IMEI numbers, or hardware serial numbers.
The calculator's "share" feature works by encoding your parameters into the URL itself. When you share a calculation link, the data is in the URL—it's not stored on our servers.
Information That May Be Collected
We minimize data collection. Here is what may be collected:
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website at an aggregate level. This helps us improve the calculator and identify technical issues. Analytics may collect:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- General geographic location (country or region level, not precise location)
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Browser type and version
- Referring website (how you found us)
Google Analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. It does not personally identify you. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Server Logs
Our hosting provider may automatically collect standard server log information, which can include IP addresses, browser information, and access times. This is standard for all web hosting and is used solely for security monitoring and technical troubleshooting.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish between visitors and track page views in aggregate. These cookies do not contain personal information. We do not use advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Email Contact
If you choose to contact us via email, we receive the information you voluntarily provide: your email address and message content. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties or added to any mailing lists.
Third-Party Services
Our website uses the following third-party services:
- Vercel – Website hosting. Vercel may collect server logs including IP addresses, browser information, and access times as part of standard web hosting. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics 4 – Anonymous web analytics for understanding site usage patterns. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not use advertising networks or form processing services.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access – You may request information about what data we have about you (in most cases, this will be none unless you've emailed us).
- Deletion – You may request deletion of any email correspondence you've sent us.
- Correction – You may request correction of any inaccurate information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@voltagedropcalculator.org. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
